  12.     -   NEW EMAIL ADDRESS!!!
  13.         In order to provide you better service we have now a dedicated
  14.         support E-Mail address. Instead of using the address of the main
  15.         developer of TBAV or TBAV-for-Windows you should now use the
  16.         support site address. The new address is
  17.         <tbavtech@worldaccess.nl>.

  19.     -   We have a WWW-server up and running! Besides the 24 hours a day
  20.         support via CompuServe, we have set up a WWW server to provide
  21.         you better service. You can contact ThunderBYTE via the World
  22.         Wide Web at <http://www.thunderbyte.com>.

  24.     -   The printed manual has been completely rewritten. It covers
  25.         TBAV-for-Dos, TBAV-for-Windows and TBAV-for-Networks. If you are
  26.         using the old printed manual, we advise you to contact your
  27.         local distributor to get a updated manual.

  29.     -   The electronic manual provided with TBAV-for-Dos has been
  30.         revised. Those of you who once printed the "TBAV.DOC" file,
  31.         are advised to print out this new electronic manual. Please note
  32.         that this electronic manual only covers TBAV-for-Dos. The
  33.         manuals for TBAV-for-Windows and TBAV-for-Networks are formed
  34.         by the Windows-based .HLP-files for these products.

  37.     -   We have developed a 32-bit version of TBAV-for-Windows! The
  38.         beta version runs successfully under Windows NT and the
  39.         Windows95 Preview Edition. A beta version of TBAV-for-Networks
  40.         for the Windows NT platform is finished, we will start releasing
  41.         it soon!

  43.     -   ThunderBYTE Anti-Virus is now supported electronically 24 hours
  44.         a day via CompuServe. You can contact us via the ThunderBYTE
  45.         Forum (GO TBYTE), WUGNET/WINUTIL Forum (GO WINUTIL) and via the
  46.         Windows News Forum (GO WINNEWS).

  48.     -   TBAV-for-Dos now comes with a file containing answers to some
  49.         Frequently Asked Questions. This file, called TBAV.FAQ, can be
  50.         viewed via the TBAV-for-Windows and TBAV-for-DOS 'Documentation'
  51.         menu.

  53.     -   TBAV-for-Networks has been released. This product, which
  54.         operates together with TBAVWIN, allows you to implement a secure
  55.         anti-virus system on your network! An evaluation version of
  56.         TBAV-for-Networks V6.37 is available (without charge!) from the
  57.         ThunderBYTE support BBS! Get TBAVN637 or contact your local
  58.         distributor for more information!

  60.     -   We moved! We didn't fit in our building anymore. Our voice and
  61.         fax numbers have been changed. In addition, we got a new
  62.         Fido-Net number. Select "About TBAVWIN" in the TBAV-for-Windows
  63.         'Help' menu to get our updated address info.

  66. TBAV-for-Windows notes:
  67.     -   Since TBAV-for-Windows and TBAV-for-DOS both use the same scan
  68.         engine, you are advised to read the "What's New" information
  69.         concerning TBAV-for-DOS as well. Select the item "What's new ?"
  70.         in the TBAV-for-Windows 'Documentation' menu to read the
  71.         information.

  73.     -   The accompanying 'ReadMe.1st' file contains some last-minute
  74.         information about TBAV-for-Windows. Select the item "Read Me" in
  75.         the TBAV-for-Windows Program Manager group to read this file.

  78. TBAV-for-Windows:
  79.     ->  This release introduces a full Windows-based implementation
  80.         of TbCheck, the resident integrity checker. The implementation
  81.         of the integrity checker in TBAV-for-Windows is part of the
  82.         Application Execution Tracker module. The TbCheck module however
  83.         cannot be active in any (windowed or full-size) DOS-box, due
  84.         to technical constraints. By default, the TbCheck module will not
  85.         check for missing Anti-Vir.Dat files on removable media or
  86.         network drives. Since the integrity checker brought several new
  87.         options along, we have redesigned the configuration of the
  88.         Background Scan Module, File I/O Monitor and Application
  89.         Execution Tracker. See the new 'Options' menu in TBAV-for-Windows!
  90.  
  91.     ->  TBAV-for-Windows now contains several security options. You can
  92.         disable a lot of items that are really meant for advanced
  93.         users. System administrators can now disable some of the advanced
  94.         TBAV-for-Windows features for novice users using the TBAV-for
  95.         Windows security settings. Check out the item called
  96.         'Security Options' in the TBAV-for-Windows 'Options' menu.
  97.         Please note that the security options are available for
  98.         registered users only.

  100.     ->  TBAV-for-Windows V6.37 introduces Quick Scan icons ! If you
  101.         use the accompanying setup program to install or update
  102.         TBAV-for-Windows, some icons, labeled 'TBAV Quick Scan: ...'
  103.         will appear in the TBAV-for-Windows Program Manager group.
  104.         If you double-click one of these icons, TbScan will automatically
  105.         be executed in order to scan one of the scan targets. The Quick
  106.         Scan icons introduce another convenient feature of TBAV-for-
  107.         Windows: you can start the scan engine by specifying the filename
  108.         of some .SCN file on the commandline. Hence, if you select 'Run'
  109.         from the Program Manager's File menu, and you type:
  110.             C:\TBAV\TBAVWIN.EXE @download.scn
  111.         then the targets specified in the 'download.scn' file will
  112.         be scanned for viruses at once. Note the '@'-character!
  113.  
  114.     -   The TBAV-for-Windows user interface has been slightly changed.
  115.         First, when clicking one of the 'drive bar' buttons while you
  116.         are not editing a target will now result in the creation of
  117.         a new (empty) target. Next, the multiple-selection method in the
  118.         listboxes has been adopted so that you can select multiple
  119.         items using the 'CTRL' and 'SHIFT' keys together with the left
  120.         mouse button. The new selection procedure is conform the Windows
  121.         standards. Finally, if you have edited a target and forgot
  122.         to save it, TBAV-for-Windows will produce a warning message.
  123.  
  124.     -   The settings for the network interface with TBAV-for-Networks
  125.         are now moved to a separate .INI file, called TBAVNETW.INI.
  126.         Storing the network interface settings in TBAV.INI introduced
  127.         some inconveniences for system operators. This release of
  128.         TBAV-for-Windows will automatically move the [Network] section
  129.         of TBAV.INI to the TBAVNETW.INI file.
  130.  
  131.     -   A new option is added in the 'TbSetup options'. You can now
  132.         specify extra executable extensions of which you want to
  133.         record the checksum information.
  134.  
  135.     -   TBAV-for-Windows is now able to play waveform sound files when
  136.         a virus is detected; however, the default setting of TBAV-for-
  137.         Windows is to produce the standard 'beep' sound. You can use
  138.         the 'Options|TBAV-for-Windows configuration' menu item to
  139.         select a .WAV file to be played (for example, you can choose
  140.         the SIREN.WAV file distributed with TBAV-for-Windows).
  141.  
  142.     -   The virus scan engine of TBAV-for-Windows has been improved,
  143.         resulting in a faster and more accurate detection of viruses.

  145.     -   The dialog box that appeared when the TBAV-for-Windows virtual
  146.         device driver was not installed, has been changed. Now, you can
  147.         configure the dialog in such a way that TBAV-for-Windows
  148.         shouldn't show this dialog upon startup. Change the setting
  149.         for displaying the dialog box via the 'Options|TBAV for Windows
  150.         configuration' dialog !

  152.     -   The TBAV-for-Windows virtual device driver, introduced in the
  153.         previous release, produced some unpredictable errors when it
  154.         was used together with SmartDrive and/or the 4Dos command
  155.         interpreter. Furthermore, the TBAVWIN.386 VxD did not work
  156.         properly together with some communication programs.
  157.         These errors have been fixed.
  158.  
  159.     -   The Virus Information Database has been enhanced.
  160.  
  161.     -   A small bug in the TBAV-for-Networks interface concerning
  162.         bootsector viruses has been solved.
  163.  
  164. Setup:
  165.     -   The default settings for the installation procedure of TBAV-
  166.         for-Windows can be changed by editing the entries in the
  167.         [Defaults] section of Setup.Inf. This is an important feature for
  168.         multi-user versions of TBAV: the system administrator can edit
  169.         the Setup.Inf the way he (she ?) thinks TBAV should be installed,
  170.         and the users only have to launch SETUP.EXE and press the
  171.         'Continue' button.

  173. TbLoad:
  174.     -   The TbLoad program that implements the Automatic Update Feature
  175.         of TBAV-for-Windows has been enhanched. Up till now, the TbLoad
  176.         program of certain releases could not cope with some new features
  177.         in subsequent releases. We have now developed a scheme where
  178.         TbLoad interacts with the main TBAV-for-Windows program, so that
  179.         the update procedure will allways be fulfilled correctly.
